Like many of the South American countries, Brazil has a varied landscape, with the Pampas (grasslands) in the North, as well as hills, forests and wetlands, along with having one of the most diverse animal populations on the planet. More than 1,600 bird species, 600 mammal, 1,500 fish and 100,000 insect species call Brazil home. Scientists believe that the first people arrived in Brazil over 32,000 years ago, possible arriving from the pacific. With its many different cultures of people, (people of European, middle eastern, African and some Japanese descent, as well as many others) Brazil has a wide range of music styles, food and cultures.

The Brazilian flag is made up of a blue circle showing a star-filled sky within a yellow triangle, all resting on a background of green. Inside the blue circle are the words "Ordem r progresso" which translates to "Order and progress."
The green of the flag represents the trees and grasslands of Brazil, while the yellow represents the abundance of minerals in the land. The stars represent the night sky over Brazil.
